With Unity 5.0 when an app launches, the global menu is initially shown on the top panel to auto-hide after a quantity of time that can be configured in CCSM (Compiz configuration tool). This is in contrast to what happened so far that the menu was hidden immediately and appeared only after the passage of the mouse.
